A low content of potassium and magnesium ions in the body can provoke a proarrhythmogenic effect, which will lead to the development of an increase in blood pressure in the vessels, atherosclerosis and the appearance of metabolic changes in the myocardium.

The most important physiological property of potassium is considered to maintain the stability of the membrane potential of neurons and other structures in myocardial tissue.
