Publication from Elena Malysheva (@malysheva.live) Oct 23, 2021 at 12:16 PDT

Doctor of Medical Sciences Elena Malysheva, on the morning of October 23, shared with her subscribers on the social network Instagram her experience of a hypertensive crisis, when her blood pressure rose to 200/130.

“Today, for the first time in my life, my blood pressure rose to very high numbers. Pressure is always a threat of stroke! I'm a doctor and I know what to do. It is very important that in such situations you also behave correctly,” Malysheva wrote.

The TV presenter gave some advice on what to do if there is a sharp rise in blood pressure.

The first thing to do if your blood pressure rises above 140/90 is to call an ambulance. If you are alone in the apartment, it is worth opening the front door, Malysheva advises: this way the doctors will be able to enter the apartment if you lose consciousness when they arrive.

The host of the “Health” program also recommends drinking “Capoten,” a drug that slowly lowers blood pressure. According to her, it is impossible to quickly reduce blood pressure.

Another piece of advice from Malysheva is not to refuse hospitalization, even if doctors have lowered the blood pressure level. It is important to conduct an examination and find out the reason for the sudden change in well-being.

Malysheva also provides a list of tests that must be done in the hospital. This is a biochemical blood test (doctors must find out the level of creatinine, electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, sodium), TSH, cholesterol, glycated hemoglobin), do a urine test, ECG and echocardiography. An ultrasound of the kidneys or a CT scan of the head may be required.

If you suspect hypertension

Moscow Mayor's website

On the website of the TV shows “Health” and “Live Healthy!”, hosted by Elena Malysheva, there is a section devoted to recommendations for hypertension. In particular, about how to prepare for a doctor’s appointment if you are visiting for hypertension.

When visiting a medical facility, patients are advised to bring with them a list of medications and dietary supplements they are taking, some of which may increase blood pressure. Before the measurement procedure, it is advisable not to consume food or drinks containing caffeine.

Since time at an appointment at the clinic is limited, it is worth writing down your questions to the doctor in advance, as well as all the observed symptoms. The site notes that the presence or absence of chest pain or difficulty breathing will help the doctor determine how serious treatment should be.

It is recommended to remember whether anyone in the family had hypertension, other heart diseases, diabetes, or whether close relatives had high cholesterol or strokes. In addition, changes in health status can be triggered by severe stress - be sure to tell your doctor about this.

If possible, it is worth bringing a family member or friend with you to the appointment - they can help you remember all the information the doctor gives.

Be prepared to ask your doctor the following questions: What diagnostic procedures are required? Do you need medications, what kind? What foods should you eat and what should you not? What should be the level of physical activity? What restrictions must be observed? Do I need to contact a more specialized specialist? It is worth finding out how often you need to measure your blood pressure at the doctor’s office and at home, whether there is an alternative to the prescribed treatment, or cheap analogues of medications. Be sure to tell the specialist about the presence of other diseases and ask how to combine treatment.

Also be prepared to discuss diet and exercise.

The website of the TV shows hosted by Malysheva also provides advice on lifestyle changes for people who have already been diagnosed and prescribed treatment.

So, for hypertension, it is recommended to switch to a diet with less salt - from 1.5 to 2.3 grams per day. “1,500 mg of sodium per day is the maximum dose for people over 50 with hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease. For other people, the maximum sodium dose is 2300 mg per day,” the website clarifies.

Malysheva revealed the main mistakes of hypertensive patients

Therapist and TV presenter Elena Malysheva on the air of the program “Live Healthy!” on Channel One revealed the three main mistakes that people with high blood pressure make. The episode is available on YouTube.

According to Malysheva, one of the most common mistakes of hypertensive patients is a sharp decrease in blood pressure with the help of medications. Co-leading cardiologist-resuscitator German Gandelman agreed with the therapist. “When we sharply lower blood pressure, the blood supply to the brain is disrupted and the person may lose consciousness,” he explained.

Is it true that blood pressure medications “help” coronavirus?

Back in mid-March, when the pandemic was just gaining momentum, information appeared on the Internet that medications to lower blood pressure increase the risk of developing severe symptoms of pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus infection. As is usual in such cases, the refutations that leading health organizations soon began to publish did not find the proper response among consumers. The seeds of panic that have been sown have already borne fruit, because such drugs are taken by many elderly people, who are already at maximum risk for COVID-19. Let's figure out why the danger of blood pressure pills during coronavirus is nothing more than a “duck.”

Terms:

SARS-CoV-2 (from the English severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) is an enveloped single-stranded (+) RNA virus of the Betacoronavirus species, from the coronavirus family. First discovered in December 2021.

COVID-19 (from English CO rona VI rus D isease 2019) is an acute respiratory infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus

Where did the myth come from?

The basis for speculation was the unique way the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) penetrates the cells of the body, which largely determines its danger. Unlike other viruses that cause respiratory infections, SARS-CoV-2, entering the nasal cavity with a current of air, penetrates the nasopharynx, where, with the help of special proteins, it firmly “adheses” to special receptors called ACE2.

These receptors are an important protein needed by the body. It regulates the functioning of the cardiovascular system, kidneys, and also protects the respiratory tract from infection. But when infected with SARS-CoV-2, it plays the role of a “lock” to which the virus has an ideal “key”. Thanks to this molecular “key,” the coronavirus penetrates cells and begins its destructive activity, affecting the respiratory tract.

This alone is enough for infection with the new SARS-CoV-2 virus to lead to the development of severe respiratory syndrome and viral pneumonia. Namely, pneumonia is the most dangerous symptom of COVID-19 and the cause of death for those infected with the new virus.

What do blood pressure lowering medications have to do with it?

The main argument of supporters of the dangers of drugs for hypertension is that these drugs presumably increase the number of ACE2 receptors in the cells of the lungs and heart. And the more cells with the “lock” protein, the more opportunity the virus has to get inside using its “key.”

But there is one flaw in this logic - the possibility of increasing the number of ACE2 receptors while taking blood pressure medications has been demonstrated only in individual preclinical studies, that is, it has not yet been proven and is not obvious (1).

What medications are we talking about?

Some of the most well-known and widely used drugs that affect the system closely related to ACE2 are blood pressure medications from the group of ACE inhibitors (enalapril, ramipril, captoril and other “prils”) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (losartan, candesartan, valsartan and other “sartans”). Their mechanism of action was quickly linked to the possible unfavorable course of COVID-19, however, there is no confirmation of this.

Authoritative opinions

After rumors about the negative impact of blood pressure medications on the course of COVID-19 leaked to the media, several reputable medical organizations officially denied them. In particular, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Heart Failure Society and the European Society of Cardiology have issued so-called “guidelines”. According to the document, patients receiving drugs from the group of ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers should not stop taking them, since there is no evidence that high blood pressure drugs worsen the course of COVID-2019.

Why is it dangerous to quit such drugs?

But an irrefutable fact is the possible loss of control over the course of arterial hypertension with abrupt withdrawal of antihypertensive therapy. At the same time, high blood pressure is absolutely associated with an increased risk of an unfavorable outcome from COVID-2019, as well as complications of hypertension - stroke and myocardial infarction.

One should not lose sight of the fact that not always a patient with arterial hypertension receiving adequate therapy has a suitable alternative. For some patients, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers become life-saving drugs - the mainstay of treatment for chronic heart failure.

Considering the importance of successful antihypertensive therapy and the complete lack of evidence of the negative impact of blood pressure medications on the course of COVID-2019, experts have made a clear conclusion that the benefits offered by blood pressure medications significantly outweigh the possible risks of infection with SARS-CoV-2.

Based on all of the above, we advise you to continue taking the high blood pressure medications previously prescribed by your doctor, and also pass this information on to your elderly relatives to reassure them.

Also, to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus, we recommend that you adhere to home self-isolation, and in public places maintain a social distance of at least 1.5 meters and wear a protective mask.

Elena Malysheva's career on television

Elena Malysheva came to television completely by accident. Due to her son’s illness, she returned to Kemerovo to restore the baby’s health.

A school friend persuaded Malysheva to go on television and introduced her to the production editor with the words: “This is Elena Malysheva. She will host a good program about health.” The girl immediately started broadcasting live.

From Elena Malysheva’s biography on the Find Out Everything website, it is known that in parallel with her work on television, Malysheva took a training course at the European Center for Health and Environment in the USA. Only the most prominent journalists who deal with health topics were invited there.

All this time, Elena Vasilievna did not stop doing medical research. In 2007 she defended her doctoral dissertation. Memes with Elena Malysheva, criticism

Elena Malysheva’s work in the “Health” and “Live Healthy!” programs often causes considerable public outcry. Unusual approaches and topics lead to the emergence of Internet memes; it is quite possible that the authors of the programs deliberately provoke to attract attention to the program.

At the same time, many take Elena Malysheva’s show seriously and are outraged by what they see. In November 2014, the public movement in defense of the rights of parents and children “Interregional Parents’ Meeting” decided to send a complaint to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation about the programs “Health” and “Life is Healthy!” since Malysheva’s programs allegedly promote early sexual activity among minors and the corruption of young people. Examples of program titles were given: “The whole truth about the vagina”, “Modeling an erection”, “How to choose and put on a condom”, “What happens during orgasm”, “About the harmlessness of masturbation”. “It will be interesting to find out who we corrupted and with what...”, Malysheva herself commented on the news about this appeal.

In one of the programs, Malysheva raised the topic of emitting gases during orgasm, which caused a wave of memes, and excerpts from the program ended up in most comedy reviews on Youtube. In another episode, the presenter cut off part of the girl’s jacket, demonstrating how the procedure for circumcision of the foreskin in men occurs. Elena Malysheva also argued why it is useful to imitate an orgasm on holidays.

In one of Elena Malysheva’s programs, an experiment was carried out that led to the death of a rat, which caused indignation among viewers. Then it turned out, as reported in Malysheva’s biography on Wikipedia, that the experiment was indicative, and the animal was briefly sedated with a tranquilizer, which is used in surgical operations.

At the same time, many doctors also treat what Elena Malysheva says on air on her programs with a great deal of skepticism. Malysheva is often accused of inaccuracy; the presenter was also reproached for statements that could offend representatives of some nationalities.

In 2013, representatives of the SoyuzPharma Association of Pharmacies prepared a letter addressed to the General Director of Channel One, Konstantin Ernst, asking him to apologize for Elena Malysheva to pharmacy workers. The reason for the appeal, as reported in the news, was the release of the TV show “Life is Great!” dated June 7, which included the story “3 mistakes in the pharmacy.” According to the professional pharmacy community, the presenter of the program, Elena Malysheva, made incorrect and even offensive statements about pharmacy organizations and their employees. In particular, the program stated that “a pharmacy is a store whose task is to sell and make money and nothing else.”

In April 2021, in one of the programs, Elena Malysheva spoke about the importance of shooting stray dogs. Her words outraged Internet users and some representatives of show business. Particularly active people even created a petition, but, according to Malysheva, journalists and the creators of the petition took her phrase out of context.

“In the story of our program, we talked about a 19-year-old guy who was killed by stray dogs. And they showed how to defend yourself if you were the victim of an attack. The guy left behind a pregnant wife. There are hundreds of such cases in Russia. And thousands more who survived, but became crippled or disfigured, because in most cases dogs bite in the face. If you imagine that it was you or your mother who found yourself alone in the park late in the evening with a pack of stray dogs, then you probably don’t want to sign a petition against Elena Malysheva, who considers it possible to talk about this problem in her program,” said Malysheva.

Elena Malysheva also said that she has nothing to say to those who value stray dogs more than people. “There’s also nothing to say to those journalists who, consciously or due to the fact that they are not interested in the reliability of the information, say that I, it turns out, demanded that dogs be shot for the World Cup, and will probably come up with something else,” she concluded presenter.

In general, Elena Malysheva’s popularity also has a scandalous connotation. For example, a half-naked photo of Malysheva appeared on social networks. But Malysheva herself denied the authenticity of the photo in which she was allegedly captured half-naked.

“This picture has nothing to do with me,” the TV presenter told the Lenta.ru portal, suggesting that the photograph was taken using Photoshop.

The TV presenter added that she is calm about the appearance of such photographs on the Internet; the only thing that raises doubts is the reputation of the media that publish such photos.

In addition to the manufacturers of fake naked photos, Elena Malysheva also suffered from thieves. In the fall of 2021, her “Medical Center” was robbed. As reported in the news, at approximately 07:00 on September 27, the criminal entered the office of a medical institution located in Perevedenovsky Lane in Moscow. After that, he opened the safe, stole a large amount of cash from it and fled in an unknown direction. According to preliminary information, the robber's loot was about 1.5 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated into the incident under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft on an especially large scale.”

Around the same time, the police detained an attacker who was trying to rob one of the capital's banks. Later, law enforcement officers established that in 2014 the robber starred on Channel One in Elena Malysheva’s television program “Live Healthy,” which was dedicated to constipation. The criminal came to Russia from Egypt, married a Russian girl, who bore him a daughter. In recent years he worked on Channel One and received good salaries. But for reasons still unknown, he decided to rob a bank.

Income

In 2021, information about Elena Malysheva’s mansion in New York became a scandal in the news.

As reported, the TV star purchased real estate in the United States for exorbitant amounts of money, and the interiors of her apartments are strikingly luxurious. Elena Vasilyevna and her husband bought a house in the suburbs of New York for $6.5 million - a luxurious mansion with an area of 1,100 square meters is located on the banks of the Hudson River.

As StarHit reported, details later became known about how the TV presenter acquired a luxurious mansion. It turned out that Elena Vasilievna took part of the amount on credit - two million dollars (about 150 million rubles at the current exchange rate). She signed it up four years ago and will pay it off until 2046.

By the way, it is with Elena Malysheva’s eldest son, Yuri, that original medical suits and scandalous themes are associated. The news reported that it was Yuri who came up with and took part in the performance of a song about testicles, which added to the list of memes from Elena Malysheva’s show.

Malysheva admitted that she really likes her own portrait, which Ekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya took many years ago.

- This is my favorite portrait. I'm without glasses. Rebellious, sexy beauty. Lord, why do I wear glasses? - said Malysheva.

This is not the first time Malysheva has used the term “sexy rebellious beauty.” In 2015, in an interview, the TV presenter said that she specifically does not undergo laser vision correction, since glasses are part of her doctor’s image.
