Drugs that increase hemoglobin in the blood: list

How to increase hemoglobin?

to increase hemoglobin levels with the help of medications. However, it should be understood that few people know what a normal hemoglobin level should be. A situation often arises when a person thinks that a low concentration is actually a normal indicator.

Such misunderstanding can lead to serious consequences for the body and the development of dangerous diseases. If a hemoglobin deficiency is detected, the cause of this phenomenon must be determined as quickly as possible. Anemia is often caused by a decrease in iron-containing proteins in the body.

The following reasons can lead to this condition:

  • large blood loss due to injury or surgery,
  • poor nutrition, which leads to a lack of proteins needed by the body,
  • inflammation in diseases,
  • development of malignant tumors,
  • during pregnancy,
  • in case of helminth infection,
  • problems leading to disruptions in the excretory and digestive systems;
  • hematopoietic pathologies.

The following norms for hemoglobin concentration in the blood should be considered normal (indicating good health):

  • people aged 18-65 years (120-160),
  • adolescence (115-160),
  • children's age (115-145),
  • elderly people over 66 years of age (120-165).

At the same time, if the level of hemoglobin in the blood begins to decrease or increase, this is a serious reason to see a specialist as quickly as possible. The doctor will suggest the necessary treatment, which will bring the hemoglobin level to the desired level.

Venofer solution for injection 20mg/ml 5ml amp 5 pcs

Application The drug Venofer® is administered only intravenously: by drip infusion, or slow injection, or directly into the venous section of the dialysis system. Before use, ampoules/vials should be inspected for sediment or damage. Only use ampoules/vials containing a homogeneous, sediment-free, brown solution. Each ampoule/vial of Venofer® is intended for single use only. Any remaining unused medicinal product or waste should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements. The administration of the drug Venofer® should be carried out under the supervision of medical personnel experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of anaphylactic reactions, in a specialized department. It should be possible to carry out anti-shock therapy, including a 0.1% solution of epinephrine (adrenaline), antihistamines and/or corticosteroids. The test dose is not a reliable predictor of the subsequent development of hypersensitivity reactions, and therefore its preliminary administration is not recommended. During the administration of the drug and immediately after administration, patients should be under medical supervision. When the first signs of anaphylactic reactions appear, the use of the drug should be stopped immediately. It is necessary to monitor each patient for at least 30 minutes after each administration of Venofer® at a therapeutic dose to ensure the absence of adverse events.

Intravenous drip infusion

Venofer® is diluted only with sterile 0.9% (w/v) sodium chloride (NaCl) solution. The diluted solution should be transparent and brown in color. Dilution should be made immediately before infusion, and the resulting solution should be administered as follows: 1. dose of Venofer® (mg iron) - 100 mg, dose of Venofer® (ml of Venofer®) - 5 ml, maximum volume of sterile dilution 0.9 % (weight/volume) NaCl solution - 100 ml, minimum infusion time - 15 minutes 2. dose of Venofer® (mg iron) - 200 mg, dose of Venofer® (ml of Venofer®) - 10 ml, maximum dilution volume of sterile 0.9% (w/v) NaCl solution - 200 ml, minimum infusion time - 30 minutes 3. dose of Venofer® (mg iron) - 300 mg, dose of Venofer® (ml of Venofer®) - 15 ml, maximum dilution volume of sterile 0.9% (w/v) NaCl solution - 300 ml, minimum infusion time - 1.5 hours 4. dose of Venofer® (mg iron) - 400 mg, dose of Venofer® (ml of Venofer®) -20 ml, maximum dilution volume of sterile 0.9% (wt/vol) NaCl solution - 400 ml, minimum infusion time - 2.5 hours 5. dose of Venofer® (mg iron) - 500 mg, dose of Venofer® ( ml of Venofer®) - 25 ml, maximum dilution volume of sterile 0.9% (w/v) NaCl solution - 500 ml, minimum infusion time - 3.5 hours

Dilution of the drug to lower concentrations of iron is unacceptable for reasons related to solution stability.

Intravenous injection Venofer® can be administered by slow intravenous injection at a rate of 1 ml of undiluted solution per minute and its dose should not exceed 10 ml (200 mg iron) per injection.

Injection into the venous site of the dialysis system Venofer® can be administered during a hemodialysis session directly into the venous site of the dialysis system under the same conditions as for intravenous injection.

Doses For each patient, the cumulative dose of Venofer® should be individually calculated and should not be exceeded.

Dose calculation* The total cumulative dose of Venofer®, equivalent to total iron deficiency (mg), is determined based on hemoglobin (Hb) content and body weight (BW). The dose of Venofer® should be individually calculated for each patient in accordance with the general iron deficiency *Calculation formulas are set out in the instructions for use.

Iron supplements

The person himself is unlikely to be able to determine which particular drug will allow him to return to his previous abnormal hemoglobin levels. The fact is that often the effectiveness of a particular drug largely depends on the human body and its characteristics. All such products are synthetic substances, the use of which allows you to restore the level of iron in the body. They increase the performance of various organs and thus restore hemoglobin levels.

Nowadays, medicines containing so-called divalent iron are widely used in medical practice. The drug ions quickly enter the bloodstream and begin to affect the body. In addition, recently new drugs have appeared that contain ferric iron. Their efficiency is an order of magnitude higher. At the same time, in order for the active ingredients to be absorbed faster, doctors recommend taking them together with ascorbic acid. Once in the body, iron begins to interact with transferrin, after which it enters the human bone marrow and liver.

It should be said that the most modern and advanced medicines have significantly fewer side effects than drugs of the past. The patient also needs to understand that taking medications containing iron must be under the supervision of a doctor. After all, uncontrolled use can cause harmful consequences and serious complications.

Today, pharmacy chains offer a large selection of drugs containing iron. There are products marketed in the form of tablets or capsules, some in the form of injections and liquid solutions. At the same time, practice shows that it is tablet drugs that act better on the body than others.
